Michael Dadlez
Michael started taking ballet classes with his siblings at RBA when he was five years old. He performed in David Allan’s The Nutcracker numerous times, performing as a kid in mother ginger, party boy, and Fritz in the Party Scene. However, when he was about nine years old, he decided to take a break from ballet to focus on other activities.
But that didn’t stop him from dancing. In May of 2018, about four years later, his Dad told him, “Michael, I see you twirling and dancing when you think no one is watching. If you want, we can go back to RBA and you can take ballet again. You can try it for a month, and if you don’t like it, you never have to do it again.
Next thing he knew, Michael was performing as the Prince in that year’s Nutcracker.
In 2019, Michael went to his first summer intensive at Houston Ballet Academy, and after that summer, Michael decided he wanted to make a career out of ballet. A couple classes a week turned into three or more hours of dancing a day. He was taking private lessons, with Glenda Carhart, David Allan, Damien Diaz, and Elizabeth Updegraff to push him and prepare him for a professional training program.
Michael did two more summer intensives at Houston Ballet Academy, and in 2021, he earned a full tuition and full housing scholarship to their professional program.
During the three years he spent at HBA, Michael received world-class training and learned repertoire from Stanton Welch AM, Jiri Kylian, Christopher Bruce, and Claudio Munoz. He performed in many classical and contemporary ballets including, Stanton Welch’s Paquita, Claudio Munoz’s The Sleeping Beauty, and Ilya Kozadayev’s Echoes.
In 2024, Michael earned his first professional contract with Boston Ballet’s Apprentice Program Boston Ballet II.
During his first season in BBII, Michael was coached under the direction of world renowned dancer Joan Boada. He performed the lead in Paquita for Boston Ballet’s Summer Dance Program. He performed many ensemble and character roles in Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker, Raymonda, and Swan Lake. He danced the Laurencia pas de six for Boston Ballet’s Rising Stars and Next Generation performances, as well as performing in the ensemble in Crystal Pite’s The Season’s Canon.
Michael will continue dancing in Boston Ballet II for the 25/26 season.@michdadlez @bostonballet https://www.instagram.com/michdadlez?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
